Poetry Corner

Have you lovely people ever seen the one and only poem I have written? I had to take it down off my old blogsite because I entered it into a competition - I didn't win (I know, shocking) - but it remains to date one of the things I am most proud of. I remain prouder of this than I do of the completely fantastic 'Granny's Pie' I baked. But I digress.... Let's have a little poetry corner on the blog today. Maybe it will inspire me to write another one, which is an ever looming possibility with my last course just round the corner. I hope you like it :)

The Muse and The Artist

It was spring when I sat
under the cherry blossom
you held my gaze and then,
I could breathe the smell of you
Sweet to me, compulsive
Oh how I smiled upon you
The best part of me was you,
For one more time,
Petals gathered in my hair, and by my feet
It would be, just you and I, eternal.

I felt as though I was Erato
Muse of love and poetry
Come love me as if I were,
As I will love you, ‘til life is closed to me
I’ll dance around the cherry blossom
Chanting, singing, our voices carrying
as though the wind could lift us
High on the sound,
Encircling us and elevating us towards the sky,
The crown of roses upon my head

We see before us the fountain,
Sprays of crystal droplets
The water nymphs at play,
Sprinkling the greensward, giggling, flourishing,
Casting tears of joy,
For we are the darlings of this world,
All on this earth shall rejoice, our love
the love of Gods
Magnificent in majesty and in splendour,
Laid out, and bared, for all to behold.

And I can taste your skin on my lips,
Every sense gathering, heightened
As I touch your lips, your eyelids
Tell me when you hear my heart beat,
Hands looping through my curls
Holding me gently, quietly,
Exquisitely, with pleasure,
Cradling my soul
For I, am your muse, and you my artist
My private treasure that no-one else could find

Hello Miss Mint

So some very exciting news - I have been asked to be a contributor/writer for a new website called hellomissmint.com which is coming to a computer screen near you in January 2014.

I have been asked to be the writer of a weekly travel section - which will be called 'Wanderlust' with lots of little travel tips and my reviews of countries. I will also be writing a column called 'The London Monologues' which will discuss life in the big city.

As well as the travel column you must all make sure you tune into the other ladies columns which will be covering all of the below.

It's going to be filled with lots of fun things which will enrich your lives and make you wonder how you ever lived without the sound advice of the Miss Mint team.

I am honoured to be asked to take part of this fresh project and it gives me a chance to write more which is so great because I love any excuse to have a chatter. Also don't worry I will still be posting my usual waffle on here.

Make sure that you all tune in - I will post the link when we are up and running in January. I know you are as excited as I am!

Dear Diary,

Whilst I was on holiday I had quite a bit of time to think and so I got to thinking that I have lost a sense of direction and I drifting along. Perfectly happily I might add but at the same time I need to find things to challenge myself. Some might call this a mid twenties crisis.

With this in mind I realised that I have let the last 2 years without really recording it at all. From 2001 to 2011 I kept a diary, I used to write nearly every day. I found it therapeutic and I loved looking back at my 13 year old self and seeing how much I have changed. I stopped writing for a number of reasons really, I was being lazy, I started blogging more, I had other distractions. As a result of this though I now don’t have any record of the last 2 years which I regret so much.

I have decided to start writing my diary again. I am going to make sure I take the time to jot everything down because I think when I’m 60 I will love to look back at my life and remember what it was like to be young and living in London.

With this in mind I went out and I bought a new diary from Paperchase, I don’t think anything inspires me more than a fresh, blank page.

I love the design, it’s very me indeed.

I always do a title page at the beginning and for this I picked a relevant quote that describes life brilliantly for me and added a small doodle of the London skyline as I still feel happy whenever I look at it and realise that I live here. I thought it was appropriate as hopefully most of this diary will be filled with my time here.

I am so looking forward to starting afresh!
