August Favourites

August Favourites time! A few bits and pieces this month. Enjoy :)

Music 

I have a new favourite album! A little band called Postmodern Jukebox and if you haven't already listened to them I thoroughly recommend that you do! My favourites are their cover of Drunk in Love by Beyonce and Fancy by Iggy Azalea.

Let me tell you a story - I found this song called One Day (Vandagg) by Bakermat and I listened to it on repeat because it's just a really good song. Nice little sample in there. And then I found out that my best friend, Callum Gordon over at Burning Reel Productions had a hand in the video and suddenly it became even better, if that was possible.

Books

I have been reading lots as always but nothing has really grabbed me this month. I've been working my way through the Cazalet series by Elizabeth Jane Howard and although they are quite good (I do love a good WWII Fiction) I'm actually more excited to buy and watch the TV series. Hopefully I will find something truly original by next month.

Home

Let's talk about my favourite home purchase for this month. Sgt Pepper. Just look at his little face. He is so freaking happy to grind the pepper. I found this chap on Amazon here.

 

If you are an avid Pourable Sunshine reader you will have read my IKEA Haul post and know that I got lots of delicious items but I do love the grey plates very much indeed. Although this is the only one that made it home. Don't try and take crockery on the tube. It will break. You will cry. You will have to take it back to IKEA.

 

Food

Some yummy new finds this month. 

Philadelphia do a Salmon and Dill tub! Who knew?! It tastes like smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches. I also like to use it in Prawn Risotto as it adds another flavour and level of tastiness.  

I think I may have found a new favourite ice-cream kids! My mouth is watering. It literally just filled with salvia at the memory of sitting down to eat this delicious tub of happiness. It is SO good.

Fashion

I'm off to a wedding this weekend and isn't just the prettiest dress. I waited patiently for this dress to hit the sales and when it finally did I snapped it up. Or so I thought. They actually still have loads of sizes in stock a few weeks in. It's very floaty on and perhaps not so great with the changing weather but I'm trying to hold on to summer for as long as possible.

This New Look purse is just beautiful. It's quite large but I quite like oversized bags and purses so it's good for me. Again this is more of a spring/summer purse but we can all retain some hope that the sun might just come back again.

Ok, let's face it. The sun isnt coming back. Must mean it's time to wrap up warm in a scarf then! I purchased this little beauty in H&M after my best friend turned up at mine rocking one. She went for the colourful one but they only had black, white and grey when I went in store. It is massive - I call it my throw or rug because there's so much wool and it's very toasty but it's barely left my side since I bought it.

November Favourites

It is getting so close to Christmas now I can almost smell the fake pine smell on my plastic Christmas tree but before December comes November which means it's time for another favourites post.

So let's get started!

I have a few fashion favourites this month. Winter is my favourite time because it means I can hide under jumpers and there is no nicer feeling than being snuggly warm to me.

This beautiful rose covered jumper (£13) was a Primark find and is thin enough that it isn't too bulky under a coat but keeps you warm.

Next is this bold statement top. Long sleeved - I do love a long sleeve and I also love lions!

Look at it. Just look. How could I resist?! Another Primark buy at 10.

And finally the best thing I have ever bought, the pièce de résistance. Not going to lie I had a bit of a battle with myself about whether I should buy this as it was a little bit on the pricey side at £95 - although I used my student discount so it went down to £85  but still it was worth it. Because it is beautiful.

Fluffy Fluffy Fluffy. This Topshop coat is so warm, at the moment perhaps a little too warm on the tube, but I don't mind really because you couldn't tear it off me. If I could sit at work wrapped up in it then I would. The fluffy liner detaches from the parka so it can be used as a spring coat as well, and the parka is waxed treated to keep off those pesky raindrops which seem to be coming along. Plus the hood is furry and massive. It's pretty darn perfect and probably my top favourite thing this month.

Next on the list is my favourite food/drink. What with the winter creeping in I have gone back to drinking tea. Unlike the majority of the British public I *shock horror* don't really like tea that much. But with the days getting decidedly colder I need something to warm my hands. With that in mind I have found a new favourite tea which just screams Christmas.

It tastes just like it says on the box of apples and cinnamon and wonderful times.

This leads on to another favourite which smells so good I want to eat it. Obviously Yankee Candle are renowned for the delicious smells that they can't help but give out. I have asked for a large one to go on my Christmas list so I am very excited about opening that on Christmas Day. I prefer sweet smelling candles so this is perfect for me, although I'm sure not to everyone's smell. 

Which leads to my final favourite(s) of the month - Music. I've got a couple of songs which I am listening to non-stop. They have really suited my mood this month which has been slightly melancholy.

The time is nearly upon us! It is just over a week before I will be taking myself off to Glastonbury for 5 days and to say that I'm a little excited would be the calm version of what I am feeling.

This will be my 4^th year going to the land of mud, music, fun, and smelly toilets. My boyfriend and I weren't too sure if we wanted to go this year as quite a few of our friends aren't going and we aren't too impressed with the line up this year but when we sat down and wrote a list of pros and cons no matter how many cons there were the biggest pro was always IT’S GLASTONBURY!

It is always quite special when we get to go because I met my boyfriend there and it will be our 3 year anniversary this year so it’s nice that we are lucky enough to keep getting tickets and are able to go back. If you haven’t been you have to go at least once in your lifetime. The atmosphere is just incredible, everyone is so friendly and they look out for each other, you get to see some amazing bands that you perhaps wouldn't normally get to see – prime examples and some my favourite are Scissor Sisters, Faithless, Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder, and Coldplay to name a few. The not washing for 5 days is fine as everyone else smells the same and it’s what baby wipes were invented for, there are always strains of music to be heard from somewhere and on the first night going up to Stone Circle and watching the hundreds of lanterns being lit and sent on their way is skin tingling. These are the reasons that we are willing to pay £205 for a ticket despite the line up being a bit crap.

I am also taking a trip to Primark at the end of the week to pick up some bits and pieces so I can put together some Glasto outfits. I have been frantically checking the weather and although it’s still 9 days to go and could change it doesn't look too awful currently but if it does rain I've got my brand new wellies to splash around in.

So now it is just a case of buying all of our alcohol – we are going for two 2ltr bottles of vodka & mixer and rum & mixer each and some cans and boxes of wine. I really am not looking forward to carrying it all on my back though!

I am so looking forward to this, it’s going to be different as it will just be my boyfriend, our friend and me but I think Glastonbury is what you make it and we are going to make it a bloody good one! xxx
