Amsterdam - The Final Day

We woke up to our final breakfast opting to pay for a bacon and egg roll to see us through to lunch. We checked our bags into the lockers so we wouldnt have to carry them and set out.......in to the rain.

We sought shelter in The Royal Palace situated in Dam Square and spent a lovely and interesting 2 hours walking around and learning all about this grand building. The giant sweeping marble maps on the floor and the impressive heavy iron chandeliers all portray a glamour that you just don't see every day.

After we had finished feasting our eyes on all the splendor we feasted our bellies on some very tasty food. We stopped at a little cafe which smelt divine. We treated ourselves to a cheese pastry and an apple cake from the vast selection.

 

We had a couple more hours to kill so we decided to walk the streets a bit more to see what we could see. We weren't disappointed either, as after turning down just one street we found some incredible graffiti

We had to go back to the hostel to get our stuff so we made our way through the streets, picked up our bits from the hostel lockers and then got on the train back to the airport. Our flight was a little bit delayed which was annoying, especially as we had work the next day but we made it in the end.

Amsterdam is really beautiful and it's not just all about going there to sit in coffeeshops and get as high as possible. We saw so much just by walking around the city, we didn't get any public transport and it was probably the best idea to walk, although the bikes scare me so much! They really do rule the road over there. I would really recommend going if you haven't been or going again if you've been already because there is always something new to do or see.

September Favourites

I can't believe we are on September Favourites! With only a few months (88 days) to go before Christmas we are getting very close to the end of the year which really does mean that the years fly by quicker the older you are!

Learning to Fly - FKJ

I feel like I might be a little bit late to join the party with James Blake's 'Retrograde' but it was played on a new show Leigh and I are watching called The Leftovers and I love it! The song. Not so sure about the programme yet....

Don't even get me started on alt-j's 'Every other freckle', I have listened to this song on repeat and I adore the lyrics! I also love that their are two different versions of the video which are really quite clever - make sure you watch both types. The link to the male version is below:

Books

The Secret Place by Tana French has FINALLY broken my bad reading spell and made me want to keep reading the book in every hour that I had which I haven't found in a novel in a while. As a murder mystery I expect there to be some twists and turns and I wasn't disappointed by this. I would definitely recommend giving this a read.

Fashion

I LOVE that it is coming into winter and I can start to wear all the rich reds and greens again. Here are a couple of pieces I have picked up this month:

I picked up this adorable little chap earlier in the month and I just couldn't leave him in the shop. Perfect for every door stopping need!

Leigh has been asking me to get some kilner drinking jars for a while now and who am I to refuse a reason to go shopping?! I like the Cheers on these as it's a little different from plain jars.

Food/Drink

Chai Tea Latte has become my new favourite hot drink. I'm not really a hot drink fan but this is just bloody lovely and autumnal.

What do you get when you cross a doughnut and a muffin?

Duffins. Yes that's right. Duffins.They are just a little bit tasty if not very good for you!

Pesto Houmous is also a new discovery for me and I'm glad that I have found it because I could just eat tubs and tubs of it,

Pay Day Mad - Shopping Haul

So as usual pay day has come and I have gone a little bit shopping mad and spent all my money. OOPS :/

I was trying to make myself feel better as it's Glastonbury tomorrow and I am not going for the first time in years and it's making me cry a little bit inside.

It also gives me an excuse to show you all my purchases!

I don't know if I've mentioned but I AM GOING ON HOLIDAY IN 3 WEEKS! It coincides very nicely with Sale season which means I can buy even more things!

 Tropical Bird Dress - £12 in the sale - I thought this would be quite nice to throw on over a bikini

 

Port Cami Maxi Dress - £10 in the sale - I love the colour of this dress and you can never have enough maxi dresses

 

Tropical Printed Skirt - £10 in the sale - Nothing screams HOLIDAY like a tropical print

 

 

Rose Palazzo Trousers - £20 in the sale - These are the most beautiful trousers in the whole entire world. I'm doing to wear them with a light blue cami top.

 

Hawaian Joggers - £24 - Are these a bit loud? I couldn't decide if they were fantastic or a bit much!

 

 

George - Asda

 

I have never shopped in George before but when I was reading the Metro this morning they were advertising a lovely fringed white lace kimono which is just what I've been after. Unfortunately everyone else seemed to have the same idea as by the time I went to buy it they had sold out of my size HOWEVER I found some other gorgeous things.

 

Floral Full Midi Skirt - £14 - I love floral and I love midi length so this is perfect!

Swimsuit - £6 - Perhaps not the most exciting but you can't beat a plain black swimsuit sometimes

Swimsuit - £12 - This is a lot of fun and very colourful. George had quite a few nice swimwear bits in

With over 100 kimonos available at the moment New Look is where you want to be for all your kimono needs. I finally found a white fringed one here after the disappointment of George.

 

Cream Lace Tassal Kimono - £16.99 - I just love kimonos, they are perfect for throwing over a swimsuit at the pool

White Gladiator Sandals - £17.99 - A summer essential!

 

That's it for now but I need to have a quick look in Primark at the weekend to get some 'essential' bits ie. cheap cami tops.

 

I hope you have enjoyed seeing what I bought, and try not to judge me too harshly for spending all this money - I am in a whole heap of sadness due to my absense from Glasto 2014. I know what will cheer me up......I still haven't been to ASOS, H&M or Zara!

Makeover

If you are a regular reader you will notice something a little bit different about the blog! If you are not then welcome, welcome.

I have hit 5000 views on my blog so decided to celebrate with a slight rebrand and it's so shiny and new. I've also changed the format for mobile/tablet users so it should be easier to read.

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who reads the blog, it makes me happy to know that there are people out there who want to read some of my thoughts. You are all darlings for putting a smile on my face.

Decorative Nails

So I'm not one to write beauty posts however I can't help but mention what I have found!

I might not have the time to do my make-up every day or lotion all the time but the one thing I do care about is having nice nails. Unfortunately I bite my nails and no matter how hard I try I just can't stop, so instead I have perfected the art of sticking on my own.

Imagine my delight then when I found some brilliant artificial nails in Primark. They were only £1 so I thought "Why not!"

They turned out to be one of the best things I have ever bought. I have had so many compliments on them, from friends, family and complete strangers! I don't know if I should spread the word in case they all run out.....

Look how completely and utterly gorgeous they are!

So I did what any sane person would do and I went and bought 4 packs before they ran out. And I may have bought some other kinds as well, but at £1 a pack you can't really blame me.

Who doesn't want tiny mustaches on their fingers?!

 Just a little bit amazing, even if they do make your eyes go funny.

There are no words to describe the above nails. I almost don't want to wear them because they are so bloody perfect.

You get 24 nails in a pack which does 1 set happily and perhaps another at a push, I didn't try the glue that came with them as I have my own special nail glue so I can't say how well it lasts but I've had the nails on for a week now and they haven't cracked and are sturdy. Also something that is very important to me as I work in an office and do lots of typing is that they are the right length to still be able to type quickly. These weren't the only types either - they had about 20 different nails, from a music note print to solid gold.

These nails are my new favourite thing and I sincerely hope that they stick around (if you will excuse the pun).

Well done Dorothy Perkins

You have hooked me in with your pretty dresses and made me part with my money.

Dorothy Perkins have got some lovely fit and flare dresses in at the moment which suit my shape best.

I already ordered this lovely Red ditzy floral dress. I don't have very many red dresses which I need to change because I think the colour quite suits me.

I also got this one last week, I've got a wedding coming up and I think this burgundy floral petal dress will do quite nicely.

 

And then because Dorothy Perkins tempted me with 30% off and free delivery for orders over £30 I just bought a couple more dresses. Oops.

This lovely Spot 2 in 1 dress in purple might also be quite nice for the wedding and also will be good for work. Fun fact: the colour purple makes people remember you. I love the little tiny dots on this.

And then this lovely little Blue floral dress because well it just looks so pretty!
